A severe natural disaster has embraced Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region. A severe flood began due to the rains that took place on June 22. Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions are two regions that suffered the most.

Mudflows washed away two roads of national importance Kryvorovnya – Chernivtsi and Lviv – Mukachevo.

The water level in the rivers rose several meters, they are overflowed, flooding settlements and washing off the local roads. The road to the resort of Bukovel is destroyed by a landslide in two places. Between Yaremche and Mykulynychi it was simply washed away.

Near Mykulychyn the bridge is also destroyed.

The resort itself Bukovel is also flooded. The houses stand in the water, the river flows flow down the alleys.

Carriageway under the automobile bridge over the Bystrytsia River is flooded too.

The road and bridge near Kosovo are also destroyed.

More than 200 flooded settlements are flooded. 29 villages are deprived of the driveways. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, three people died as a result of the disaster, one went missing. In total, 110 km of roads, 1850 m of coastal fortifications and 90 bridges in the Ivano-Frankivsk region were destroyed. In addition 429.7 km of roads and 130 bridges in Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Chernivtsi regions are damaged. The transport connection with 34 settlements is cut off. More than 400 people were evacuated from the scene of the disaster.

The highest rain flood is expected on June 24 with a height of 6-7 m. The Dniester River spilled 7 m, and in the Prut River the water rose 6.5 m.

Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and the Interior Minister Arsen Avakov went to the place.

To eliminate the consequences of the disaster, Ukraine involved the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. 150 military of the National Guard, four helicopters, a military aircraft of the National Guard were brought in to deliver humanitarian aid to the residents of the affected settlements and to protect the empty houses from looting.
